On Tuesday 11th November we welcomed some very special guests to The Meadows. The Bishop of Stafford, Rev Geoff Annas, Rev Peter Chantry, Mr Kerridge from Madeley High School and members of the Parish Council came to look at our special outdoor WW1 display. We were very proud to show our guests all the work that has been created by the children, staff and parent volunteers. Afterwards along with the children from Y6, we walked to the restored war memorial for the service of remembrance and act of rededication.

The children have been very excited this week to share the news that one of our very own staff is taking part in the FA Cup this weekend. Mr Skellern is very popular amongst the children as he has brought such enthusiasm to our PE lessons. The Sentinel came along yesterday to talk to the staff and the children about such a special achievement. Please take a look. We have been promised that our banner will be appear on the BBC highlights show! We will share this at school on Monday as it is on late in the evening.
We all know the world our children are growing up in, is very different to our own childhood.
Thank you for supporting our Harvest Collection for families who need support in Madeley. Today a volunteer came along to school to collect all the donations. She has sorted all the items and let me know that we collected enough food to support 13 people for 3 days!! Thank you for your continued support to our community projects.
Today at The Meadows we welcomed a very special visitor - the author John Malam. Our children are very passionate about their reading, so to meet a real author was something we have all been looking forward to!!
It was lovely to see so many children purchase a signed copy of one of his books. I hope you sharing them at home.
You need to set up your ParentMail account so you can receive letters electronically. We have sent home a letter explaining why we are doing this and how it will help Parents to be better informed about dates and events etc.
If you have a Smart phone that has internet access you should have received a link. All you need to do is follow that link.
We are delighted by the amount of children in Class 1 and Class 2 who are talking about Bug Club. They are enjoying the interactive rewards and are eager to earn their Bug Club rewards. We have received a few queries which I would like to answer below:
At The Meadows we are very proud of our musically talented children and it is something which we consider to be of the greatest value for children's development. All of Class 3 learn to play the Violin for 2 years with Mrs Hughes, a specialist music teacher.
I am delighted that the Mad Science Club will go ahead. The first session is on Friday October 10th. I am sure the children will really enjoy the activities planned and discover how exciting Science can be. There are still places available if your child would like to join. Please speak to Mrs Cooper in the Office.
This week the children enjoyed a lively show from "Mad Science". Mad Mike and Cosmic Kerry introduced the children to the wonders of chemistry with their "Spin,Pop and Boom" demonstration. With the children's help they defied gravity, made a booming didgeridoo and a spinning glass of water which didn't spill a single drop!
