Link Governor Meeting - English

As governors we take on different roles and responsibilities to make sure that all areas stay high on the school’s agenda - part of the school’s self evaluation process and prioritised within the School Development Plan. On the 12th January, I met with Mrs Edwards in my role as Literacy Link Governor to discuss various initiatives including the literacy progress in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 through Success Maker and the Bug Club.

Purpose of Visit: To develop links as a newly appointed link governor. To discuss and evidence the implementation of the school’s develop priority of embedding Maths across the curriculum.

The school is to be commended for the active approach been undertaken to ensure that mathematics is fully embedded across the school curriculum.

Focus: Specialist music provision in key stage 2

The first classroom I entered was a hive of creative musical activity. A large group of class 4 students were completing their performances of rhythmic pieces which involved vocal harmonies, guitar playing and percussion. All was done with excellent timing

As ever, supporting our children that require extra support with their learning continues to be a priority at The Meadows, and some of the changes we have made over the last 9 months are continuing to deliver results, particularly where Mrs Jones has a central role in supporting the children, along with the interventions we have in place in the form of ‘precision teaching’ This has recently been assessed and approved by Judith Till from Staffs County Council, who praised the work done by the staff at the school in this area.
