Class 4 Trip to Stockport Air Raid Shelters

As our topic this term is ‘Blitzed Brits’, on Monday 20th October Class Four will be going on a visit to Stockport Museum and Air Raid Shelters, where they will experience a historical role-play day, stepping back into wartime Britain, arriving as evacuees to be billeted. All children will learn, in role, how to be ‘good evacuees’.

Our class letter has been sent home today (24/09/14).

Targets and Mental Maths - CL3

Yesterday the children were given their targets for the next half term. In Literacy, we are focusing on handwriting, and in Maths we are focusing on place value.

We have decided to change our focus to multiplication for the next half term. We still encourage the children to practise their number facts at home as these number facts will continue to be a focus within our Maths lessons.

Mymaths Homework

There was a slight glitch with the mymaths homework over the weekend. This is now sorted therefore you should be able to complete your homwork. I have given you a few extra days to complete it.

Instrumental lessons

At The Meadows we are very proud of our musically talented children and it is something which we consider to be of the greatest value for children's development. All of Class 3 learn to play the Violin for 2 years with Mrs Hughes, a specialist music teacher.

Busy, busy, busy!

In Class 2 we have all been very busy over the last two weeks getting familiar with our new numeracy resources.

We have been; investigating numbers, creating number lines, adding numbers and working out their place value all using our new Numicon resources. enlightened

MAD SCIENCE CLUB

I am delighted that the Mad Science Club will go ahead.   The first session is on Friday October 10th.  I am sure the children will really enjoy the activities planned and discover how exciting Science can be.  There are still places available if your child would like to join.  Please speak to Mrs Cooper in the Office.

Class 3 Trip

As I have received a few queries regarding the cost of the trip, I would like to further explain the cost. The trip will be led by an activity specialist from Wildwoods Outdoors. The cost of the trip covers all the resources, as well as a specialist activity leader. We have tried to keep the cost as low as possible, as similar trips like this would cost well over £20.00 due to the charge of the coach. Furthermore, the children will have a full day, rather than having their activities cut short due to transportation.

I hope this clears things up!
