Teabag trouble!

In Science Club, Class 2 have been busy investigating what is the best material to make a teabag out of as part of their CREST Award. They used their STEM skills as scientists, engineers and mathematicians to plan a comparative test. The children did everything they could to make their test as fair as possible including measuring materials to the same size each time, using one spoon of tea leaves and timing each one for one minute.

First Day at School

All of the children in our new Reception class have had a wonderful morning. Most of the children were very eager to come in and play. Some just needed a little reassurance and then chose their favourite activities with a smile! Miss Bill, Miss Crooks and myself are very excited to get to know them all better and are very much looking forward to the year ahead.

40 Day Fitness Challenge Completed

Image

On the 6th April we launched our 40-day fitness challenge with our school community. The aim of the challenge was to promote positive wellbeing and physical fitness; this was part of our recovery from lockdown and the many challenges it posed our wellbeing, including the impact of travel restrictions, the closures of sports clubs and having to spend increasing time in our homes.

Welcome back

We have had a great first week back after the easter break. We have made the most the Spring sunshine and have been enjoying outdoor maths. We have drawn our own hopscotched and been adding by counting on. We have listened to the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and have made our own story maps. We have also enjoyed learning in our new role play area The Garden Centre. Next week we will be gardening!

Christmas week Feedback Friday

Merry Christmas everybody!

We have had a lovely  week here at school. We have been learning festive phonics and Christmas counting! We have listened to the Christian story of the Nativity and performed our Christmas song for the Meadows Christmas video. It has been a different kind of Christmas and we have certainly had to think creatively to make this Christmas extra special for our children, but we have! The children have as always been amazing and had lots of fun!

Good morning all!

It is beginning to look alot like Christmas! We have our school Christmas tree up, which was a  magical moment as Class 1 walked past for the first time.

The children have been working so hard again. We have been counting and using bigger numbers and practising using our phonics to read and write.

Feedback Friday

Good morning all,

Another lovely busy week in Class 1. Thank you everyone for attending our parental consultations via Teams. I felt that it all went well and was a positive experience!

This week we have been practising blending and segmenting with our phase 2 sounds and have enjoyed reading our Rocket Phonic books which you can now access at home too. This practice will help to build confidence with the text and develop fluency. Thank you for parent contributions in the reading diaries. It really informs us about how the children are applying their skills at home.
