World Book Day 2019

As you may be aware, World Book Day will be taking place on Thursday March 7th this year. World Book Day is a global event that celebrates the love of reading. World Book Day is also a registered charity and their aim is to give every child a book of their own. Due to this, each child will receive a token to use on a book. Some of the titles included in the £1 book offer are:

  • Percy Jackson and the Singer of Apollo by Rick Riordan
  • Diary of Greg Heffley's Best Friend by Jeff Kinney
  • Bad mermaids by Sibeal Pounder
  • Claude Best in Show by Alex Smith
  • Snap by Patrice Lawrence

The theme of this year’s World Book Day is ‘Share a Story Today’. As well as having lots of exciting activities planned throughout the day, each class will be basing their learning that week on a text. There will be many cross-curricular links (as well as some suggested home learning activities). We would also like to invite you to join your child at the end of the school day to enjoy some shared reading (and a mug of hot chocolate)! We feel this would be a lovely chance for you to share in the learning we have done this week as well as for the children to share some of their favourite books.

While we will not be dressing up on this day, we would like the children to bring in a teddy, blanket or pillow. We will be using the items in a range of ways on the day.

Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions regarding this letter, please do not hesitate to contact a member of staff.

Kind regards,

Miss Parry
