A Visit from a Viking...

Today the children have uncovered the truth behind the stories! They now know that their original thought of a Viking is very different to what the Vikings were actually like. Through the morning, the children have travelled on a learning journey and have explored all aspects of Viking life (from jewellery making and trading, to the small minority who raided other countries). They now know how varied the Viking culture was, and they have a very ‘handy’ way of remembering all the different roles the Vikings had (I’m sure they’ll let you know the secret if you ask)!

The children had the chance to experience real artefacts from the past and have their questions answered by an expert.

One child even had the chance to dress up as a Viking and act out a battle scene.

We will be using this morning to inform our writing for rest of the week. Tonight’s talk homework will be to talk all about the facts they have learnt from today’s session. We will also be using the day to create more Viking crafts and recreate a battle scene.
