This week, we have held a range of Maths Family Learning workshops across the school. The aims of these workshops have been to help family members:
•To recognise the characteristics of a Mathematician.
•To identify the expectations for their child/children in their learning.
•To understand what the RUCSAC method is and how we use it to help pupils create a strategy to solve problems.
•To have a go at different types of problems with their child.
During the sessions, all pupils and their family members have had the opportunity to sing songs, play games (showing great competitive spirit) and solve problems. It has been a wonderful opportunity share our school priority in Maths with parents, which is about using a clear strategy to solve problems. At The Meadows, we use RUCSAC to help us to break down our problems and idenitfy how to find the right answer.
All children were able to demonstrate how we tackle problems, using our Power Maths Scheme to help us.
It has been delightful to welcome so many family members into our workshops; the children have thoroughly enjoyed completing the activities with you and sharing their learning. A huge thank you to all who have been able to attend.
