Link Governor Meeting - English

As governors we take on different roles and responsibilities to make sure that all areas stay high on the school’s agenda - part of the school’s self evaluation process and prioritised within the School Development Plan. On the 12th January, I met with Mrs Edwards in my role as Literacy Link Governor to discuss various initiatives including the literacy progress in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 through Success Maker and the Bug Club.  Mrs Edwards explained how these are improving standards and I was especially pleased to see what is being planned for all pupils to have increased enjoyment in reading, writing and spelling. For instance, this term you will be having lots of “fun” spelling games.

We have submitted a funding bid to WH Smith (fingers crossed) which, if we are successful, will go towards buying much needed library books.    So, on a final note, why does the word weird' have such a weird spelling? Shouldn't it be wierd?  After all we are told i before e except after c.  It is really weird.
