Whilst learning about Chinese New Year, we have developed skills in all areas of the EYFS.

Maths - We used ordinal numbers whilst performing the animal race across the river. We also wrote chinese numbers!

Art and Design - We designed and made a Dragon mask and danced a Dragon Dance and made Chinese music to dance to. We also made lucky money packets using cutting and joining skills. we also made fans, dragons and lanterns.

Literacy - We wrote menus for the Chinese food that we tried. We wrote fortunes for our cookies too.

Physical development - Aswell as dancing and racing we found that using chopsticks was tricky!

Understanding The World - We have learnt about New Year traditions from around the world. We have learnt a little about China. The children loved building The Great Wall of China! We also produced super Dragon pictures on the Smartboard.

Communication and Language - The children were very engaged and demonstrated super discussion skills. We also learned to speak some Chinese! Gong Hei Fat Choi!

Personal, Social, Emotional Development - The children have loved learning about different cultures and traditons in Britain. This encourages an understanding of British values and that not all people are the same. We are beginning to appreciate that we are all unique and special!
