  • Discussed why people are chosen to fulfil roles, in particular, why Mary was chosen to be Jesus' mother.
  • Explored different depictions of Mary in art, exploring what they tell us about what Christians believe about Mary.
  • Used the Bible to explore how Mary felt to be chosen to be Jesus' mother, and how her feeling changed.
  • Explored two different accounts of the nativity, one found in the book of Matthew and one found in the book of Luke. We compared how they were similar and different and reasons why this might have been the case.

The children generated fantastic questions in order to delve into the Biblical stories in more detail. They were also able to reflect on the significance of the nativity story at Christmas. We were interested to explore different popular Christmas ads, and were surprise with the lack of reference to the nativity.
