Class 1 & 2 Animal madness!

Today on Classes 1 and 2 we have had a super day. First, we had a visit from 'The Animal Man' who brought lots of interesting animals with him for us to look at. We were using our science skills when we learnt about different types of animals and classifying them as:

  • Fish
  • Amphibians
  • Reptiles
  • Mammals
  • Birds
  • Insects

We discussed the characteristics of each type of animal and what makes them special, such as whether they are warm or cold blooded, whether they have feathers and if they can change their skin colour or not. We also found out what they eat, where they live and how they survive in the wild.

What we enjoyed the most though was being able to meet all the special animals and could even stroke them if we wanted to. Some of us were very brave and held an insect! Here are some pictures to show what fun we had:

Tilly - "I got a shock at how soft the owl was!"

Jesse - "I really liked meeting the lizard and finding out the story of how he lost his tail."

Henry - "I enjoyed holding a cockroach; it was fun until it started crawling up my arm!"

Ruby - " There were some mammals that I hadn't seen before that i liked."

Ellenor - "I enjoyed seeing all of the animals that were new to me and I hadn't heard of them before."

Sadie - "I learnt a lot about different types of animals. It was really exciting."

After that, we continued to have a lovely day by going to the park in the afternoon and had a special treat there of an ice-cream! We had a great time playing with our friends and on the park equipment. What an exciting day!
