Academy Council Visit (Maths)

Focus – Maths

Last week, I came into school in my role as an Academy Councillor to meet with the Maths Lead, Mrs Kuffour. The focus of the meeting was to discuss the Maths SIP (School Improvement Plan) and the actions being completed in this academic year. I was exceptionally pleased with the findings including:

  • A clear and dedicated plan of progression for the year, with many actions that have already been completed.
  • Collaborative working between staff to ensure SIP is being met effectively. Evidence of CPD delivered to ensure the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Evidence of parental engagement is noted. Parents have been kept informed (through letters, emails and blogs) about the current priorities in Maths and the implementation of FUN Maths.
  • Evidence of proposed workshops in December for families in Class 3 which will strengthen parental engagement.

I am looking forward to coming in to school again in December where I will observe pupil engagement in FUN Maths, as well as talk to them about their opinions of Maths and their learning.
